  33. @puffnfresh @Foone Go mod locks on the exact version, so you won’t be affected by a breaking change introduced later, as long as the dependency author doesn’t violate semver in tags.
Moreover, Go mod proxy stores a copy of the repository, to protect against force pushes and repository deletions.

    • @puffnfresh @Foone I make breaking changes all the time. Per semver, the MAJOR version would reach thousands in no time.
To prevent that, I set the version to 0.0.yyyyMMdd, and don’t use tags.

Both Go mod and NPM can work with that.

  43. I reinstalled the KVM server of my website yoursunny.com from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04. Downtime was 48 minutes.

    • Noticed changes:
▪️ Ubuntu installer is using Snap under the hood.
▪️ Initial netplan config file is 00-installer-config.yaml instead of 50-cloud-init.yaml.
▪️ htop is included by default.
      ▪️ certbot doesn't need PPA.
▪️ NGINX Stable PPA is dead. New repo is on their own server.

    • Experiences and lessons:
▪️ Having a separate /home partition saves a lot of time because I don't have to re-upload the website.
▪️ Mounting/unmounting ISO in SolusVM has no effect until I power off and power on the KVM.

  44. ❓ Any 4th of July activities that are enjoyable 7am onwards?

🆙 Get up at 7, paint your face like the American flag, do some push-ups, stay inside for the whole day away from the coronavirus.

  45. My one app crashed my other app.
    🔸 I deployed a #NDNts Certificate Authority.
🔸 It can register prefix that contains timestamp component.
🔸 NFD prints that as "t=1593897118521000".
🔸 My NFD status page, deployed all over @NamedData testbed, crashed.

    • Why it crashed?
🖌️ #NDNts Name constructor expects the substring before "=" to be a number.
      🖌️ Number.parseInt("t") returns NaN.
🖌️ Template engine doesn't like NaN.
🖌️ NDNts naming-convention2 library can parse "t=" syntax but the status page isn't using it.

    • Upcoming fix:
🔹 Name constructor of #NDNts should convert invalid input to default values, and not put NaN in where it shouldn't be.
🔹 The status page needs to use the convention aware URI parser from @ ndn/naming-convention2 library.

    • @pocztarski said at @WarsawJS: call me irresponsible for crashing on null or undefined in #JavaScript and #TypeScript.
      youtu.be/PtGP6v29SZQ

NaN should be added to this list.

  54. I want to build a @NamedData libraries playground, but I don’t know how to do it without committing a rack full of servers. t.co/IKBQ1TDnB8

    • My flagship library is #NDNts. It’s easiest to show fully built applications, but hard to make a playground. It does work on @codesandbox containers though.

#NDNph and the Go library in #NDNDPDK might run in WebAssembly. If I commit a VPS to compile, a playground could happen.
