  17. I suddenly realize Ubuntu MATE 16.04 on my desktop is going to lose support next month. They released 18.04 for Intel architecture but not ARMv7. Not good!

    • I used to describe my desktop as "armhf" but it can run aarch64 too. I found @GwolfWolf 's Debian buster image and I'm installing LXQT desktop now. It only works from SD card, not from USB drive.

    • RPi3 is ARMv8 but I couldn't get desktop working.
      Debian LXQt: HDMI error.
      ArchLinux LXQt: panel disappears.
      ArchLinux MATE: Xwayland reports insufficient memory, probably GPU driver problem.

    • After 12 hours of package installation, I have a working desktop on ARMv8. It's @FreeBSD with MATE desktop. Very very slow, so I probably won't keep it.

    • It's been three days since taking my desktop offline for maintenance. @Gentoo has a working ARMv8 desktop github.com/sakaki-/gentoo… , but not for long: it lasted an hour before crashing due to out of memory.
      I guess I'll have to give up on ARMv8 and go back to 32-bit.

    • My desktop is back! Ubuntu has released official ARM64 "server" image. Install mate-desktop-environment-extras and xserver-xorg packages, and I can get a pretty stable desktop. Only downside is having to use netplan.

  18. #Huel powder is out of stock and my order will be delayed by 4 days. Does this mean I can eat chocolate bars and French fries? @gethuel

    • I have three scoops of #Huel remaining. They said on Monday that the order will ship in "3-4 days" but it's not happening. I'll have to live off pizza and ice cream and Coca-Cola and meatballs next week. @gethuel
